I’m a filmmaker who’s always loved to argue — especially about movies. Growing up, my family would leave the theater and spend the entire drive home debating our favorite (and least favorite) parts of every summer blockbuster and animated release. Those conversations stuck with me.
As I got older, I wanted an excuse to bring that same energy to my friends — the passionate, funny, sometimes ridiculous debates that make movies feel alive long after the credits roll. After a few years of scribbled prompts, endless playtesting, and too many heated living room arguments to count, FIGHT NIGHT was born.
At its core, FIGHT NIGHT is about more than just movies. It’s about giving people a reason to laugh, to connect, and to see their favorite (and least favorite) films in new ways. It’s about keeping movie nights fun, flexible, and just a little bit ridiculous. One group might play it fast and silly, another might take it logical and technical — either way, there’s no “right” way to play, just like there’s no one “right” way to love movies.
I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll inspire you to watch a few more movies along the way. Because to me, movies are lifeblood.
- Kimani Calliste, the creator of FIGHT NIGHT
